Zero tolerance for services at the border. This requires 120 percent work

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michał Kołodziejczak announced on Monday in Dorohusk (Lublin Voivodeship) zero tolerance for services that will not properly perform their work at the border when inspecting agricultural and food products.

  • Deputy Minister Kołodziejczak met at the Dorohusk crossing with the services and inspections responsible for the control of agri-food goods at the border.
  • The meeting was attended by representatives of, among others: National Tax Administration, Border Guard, veterinary medicine and Sanitary and Epidemiological Station.
  • Kołodziejczak emphasized that the government will have zero tolerance for services that do not perform their work properly.

He noted the high commitment of employees, “but he also sees places where there is personal resistance.”

Zero tolerance for those who want to break procedures; zero tolerance for those who today want to trade Ukrainian goods on the back of Polish farmers and introduce them to the market – added Kołodziejczak.

Kołodziejczak involves the services more strongly. “It’s about food security”

He emphasized that in order to ensure food security, hard work is now needed and “everyone will have to work at 120 percent.” He also pointed to the end of shifting responsibility from one service to another and called for increased contact between them.

The regulations do not keep up with the current situation. “On the other side we have predatory business”

In his opinion, the current regulations are not adapted to the current situation.

This is to be adapted to the realities that are unfortunately dictated to us today by people who want to take advantage of the opening of the European Union border with Ukraine – said the deputy minister.

During the briefing, he announced that he would provide the services with his first comments and guidelines after his two-day inspection at the crossings in the province. Lublin Province. – Today we are ending the idea that there is any acceptance of mistakes (…) These comments do not result from the fact that any of the services would do anything consciously wrong (…) Unfortunately, we also have to adapt to the fact that on the other side we have big, predatory business that often wants to take advantage of our kindness – explained the deputy minister.

The Voivode of Lublin, Krzysztof Komorski, referred to the increased supervision of the flow of agri-food products across the border with Ukraine.

We don’t want it to be limited to managing from behind a desk. If necessary, we will be physically present at the border and we will talk to our services and personally supervise this process, declared the voivode.

Kołodziejczak is waiting for comments and reports on the uncontrolled impact of agri-food products

He noted that he was waiting for comments from agricultural organizations or other associations that have any knowledge about the uncontrolled impact of agri-food products.

– I will appoint an advisory team with which I will meet on Wednesday at noon. I will invite representatives of all these entities and we will monitor, colloquially speaking, “on foot” all cases of abuse that raise any doubts; We will thoroughly examine the documentation and examine these transports. The services will receive individual guidelines, and we will do everything to put an end to this practice, Komorski announced.
