This week we informed about the farmers’ protest announced for February 9. Now there’s another one coming. Will the hosts take to the streets again on February 20? For now, they are setting conditions for the Prime Minister!
The tension is rising! Today (February 2), Polish farmers supported our western neighbors during the protest in Lubieszyn.
This is our sixth protest this year, and we already know that it will not be the last – says Emil Miezaj, coordinator of the nationwide farmers’ protest on January 24. – We protested four times with German farmers at the border, we were in Berlin, and then it was January 24. We must show strength and unity, because elections to the European Parliament are just around the corner. Something has to change, he argues.
February is a month of protests
More and more grassroots strike initiatives are being launched in the country. This time, the initiators of the protests are young farmers from Elbląg, led by Damian Murawc.
Our goal is to encourage farmers to fight together, I am very happy that farmers are uniting – argues Murawiec.
At the same time as the protests, the Independent Farmers’ Trade Union Solidarity is also coming out and has announced protest actions throughout the month. More towns are joining the initiative – so far over 60 protests have been reported.
We support both the actions organized on the initiative of the boys from Elbląg and the activities of Solidarity, says Miezaj. – We are united on this issue, but if nothing changes, further actions will be needed.
The next action is to be a protest on February 20.
Mr. Prime Minister, you have two weeks to settle the matter with the Ukrainians. If not, on February 20, we will leave and block Poland, warns Stanisław Barna, a farmer from West Pomerania, coordinator of the nationwide farmers’ protest of January 24.
Culmination on June 4 in Brussels
But it’s not over yet. The actions carried out in individual countries will culminate in a European-wide farmers’ protest in Brussels, scheduled for June 4, a few days before the European Parliament elections.
The demonstrations will be held under the joint leadership of three farmers’ organizations: Farmers Defense Force – FDF (Netherlands), Institute of Agricultural Economy – IGR (Poland) and Land Schafft Verbindung Deutschland – LsV (Germany). The cooperation was concluded during a meeting of the organization’s representatives on January 29.
We are asking you, Farmers/Colleagues/Fighters: Let’s organize, unite, let’s be visible and thus make every citizen aware of what is happening to their food security – the organizers write on their website. – Down with the Green Deal! Down with the policy of demolishing farms! Down with unfair trade contracts! Stop taking away our civil rights! Down with the current dictatorship from Brussels of unelected, poisonous green EU commissioners and (top) officials and politicians who are destroying our farms! Eliminate them from Brussels for good! – they appeal.
As they emphasize, the farmers’ goal is to make European Union citizens aware of two aspects:
- To whom are they responsible for the tax increases, high (food) prices, wars and growing poverty of the last five years.
- So that THEY – the citizens – have the power to decide the future and direction of the EU during the European Parliament elections on June 6-9, 2024!
So they can then send all these corrupt officials and politicians home for good! Let us, farmers and EU residents, cleanse ourselves – We will take away their mandate as MPs! June 4 – Brussels must be the beginning of the end of the current hegemony of unelected Brussels administrators. Let’s fight and walk together on June 4! ALL4One! Make the EU great again! – they appeal.
