The government has done everything possible for farmers

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated on Monday that her government had done everything possible for farmers and added that expenditure on this sector from the National Reconstruction Plan had been increased from EUR 5 to EUR 8 billion. This is how she referred to the protests of farmers who announced that they would move towards Rome with tractors.

The head of government, who is in Tokyo, said at a press conference: “We have always met with farmers. This is one of the main sectors that receives attention. This is shown by the facts and the budget act in which we increased expenditure.”

– We negotiated the National Reconstruction Plan, increasing expenditure on agriculture from EUR 5 to EUR 8 billion – recalled Meloni. She also drew attention to fuel discounts. -We have done everything possible, also when it comes to defending excellent products, by adopting a standard banning synthetic food – noted the Prime Minister.

The tractors moved towards Rome

She made these assurances on the next day of protests by Italian farmers against the policies of the government and the European Union. They announced demonstrations in the Rome area for this week. A line of 250 tractors started on Monday towards the Eternal City from the area of Arezzo in Tuscany, where the protest lasted for several days.

Farmers from all over the country are expected to come to the Italian capital. The farmers also want to present their demands during the song festival in San Remo, which starts on Tuesday. Its artistic director and presenter, Amadeus, stated on Monday that if the farmers came, he would welcome them on stage.
