Good news for the dairy sector comes from overseas again. Quotations of dairy products on the New Zealand Global Dairy Trade exchange have increased once again.
Session of February 6 this year. on the Global Dairy Trade exchange ended in positive territory again. The value of the general price index this time increased by 4.2%. This is the fifth consecutive increase in prices.
The increase in the general price index translated into an increase in the prices of most available categories of dairy products. The largest increases were recorded for butter (+10.3%) and Cheddar cheese (+6.3%). However, the decrease occurred only in the case of Mozzarella (-1.8%).
The decline in the sales volume of dairy products is slowing down
At the last GDT session, 24,836 tons of dairy products were sold, which was only 73 tons lower than the previous auction. The results of the last GDT session are as follows:
- Anhydrous milk fat – increase by 3.3%,
- Butter – increase by 10.3%,
- Buttermilk powder – increase by 1.2%,
- Cheddar cheese – increase by 6.3%,
- Lactose – increase by 2.6%,
- Mozzarella – decrease by 1.8%,
- Skimmed milk powder – increase by 4.6%,
- Whole milk powder – increase by 3.4%.
