Cutting knife shafts, especially double ones, are a very interesting option for classic mulchers powered by the tractor’s PTO shaft. One of the companies that offers such a solution is the Polish agricultural machinery manufacturer Mandam from Gliwice.
Knife shafts intended for cutting crop residues require less power, have a simpler structure, and can guarantee higher efficiency and are perfect for combining with other devices.
At the last Agrotech fair in Kielce, at the stand of the well-known and respected manufacturer Mandam, there was exhibited, among others: WN Tandem HD cutting roller, i.e. a reinforced tandem version with a working width of 3 m.
The Mandam WN Tandem HD cutting roller is an interesting option for a mulcher and a way to better use the tractor.
The Mandam WN Tandem HD cutting roller, if necessary, can be hung on the front or rear tractor lift. For example, the three-point linkage suspended at the front allows machines to be aggregated – for example, we attach a disc seeder to the rear – and, firstly, we save fuel, and secondly, we have a better loaded tractor, which translates directly into its better towing capacity.
Of course, with this configuration we need a strong tractor, because the cutting shaft itself needs the appropriate speed to obtain satisfactory results.
The Mandam WN Tandem HD cutting shaft has 60 knives
Mandam WN Tandem HD cutting shaft – as the name suggests – a very solidly made machine, designed for the heaviest tasks.
In the 3-meter version, it has two shafts with a diameter of 560 mm with 60 pieces of guillotine knives made of Hardox steel, a copying drawbar with Teflon sleeves, bearings from the renowned SKF company and protective upper covers. Its mass is 1,140 kg and the minimum tractor power is 60 HP.
How much was the Mandam tandem cutter roller valued at?
Prices for the Mandam WN Tandem HD double knife shaft start from PLN 39,900 net for the described 3-meter version and end at PLN 81,890 net for a hydraulically foldable machine with a width of 6 meters and a power requirement of 120 HP.
As an option, you can also buy only LED lighting for PLN 1.8 thousand net.
