Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Michał Kołodziejczak, addressed Jarosław Kaczyński in an open letter. In the letter, he accuses him of lack of respect – not only towards himself, but also towards other politicians.
At the end of January, during the Sejm session, a dispute broke out between Michał Kołodziejczak, the current deputy minister of agriculture, and Jarosław Kaczyński, former deputy prime minister in the government of Mateusz Morawiecki.
Reaction to Kaczyński’s harsh words
After Kołodziejczak’s sharp criticism of the government, there was an uproar in the Sejm hall. Politicians did not bite their tongues – both from the ruling party and the opposition.
This day is symbolic for me. It so happens that I am sitting close to Jarosław Kaczyński and I can hear what he is saying. When Michał Kołodziejczak spoke and addressed him as “Mr. Kaczyński”, he replied as “shit” – said Donald Tusk.
These words caused quite a stir and a debate about the level of debate in Polish politics. Today, Michał Kołodziejczak decided to officially comment on these words.
Mr. President, I consider the offensive words that you addressed to me on January 24, 2024 in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland while performing my duties as a deputy, to be insulting, unworthy of a man and a Warsaw intelligentsia – he wrote in an open letter to Jarosław Kaczyński. – This is not the first time that you have addressed political activists elected by the nation in a brazen, paternalistic manner. You treated outstanding politicians similarly or even worse – trying to deprive them of their honor and dignity. But you deprived yourself of your dignity.
Kołodziejczak emphasizes Kaczyński’s disregard and lack of respect
In his letter, Kołodziejczak cited several examples illustrating the lack of respect in the former prime minister’s statements and actions.
By publicly destroying Andrzej Lepper and stealing his agricultural program, you showed all Poles what your true attitude is towards the representatives of the people. Your provocations towards Andrzej Lepper were a vile, even “knacky” attempt to destroy the competition and feed on its corpse – writes Kołodziejczak. – Your relations with Lech Wałęsa are no different, whom you treated and treat as a proverbial “job” – despite that it was he, and not you, who created a political nation during the Polish People’s Republic and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize by the world for his courage and the monumental work of “Solidarity”. It’s time, Mr. President, to appreciate the work of your hands. Your dressing up in the feathers of a defender of the people is a counterfactual fiction. Where were you in the 1990s? Where were you in the era of huge unemployment? Where were you when farms were going bankrupt? Where were you when Poles were leaving abroad en masse to earn a living? Where were you , when Andrzej Lepper, together with farmers, defended Poles and the Polish countryside? The facts are clear and inexorable. You perceive the Polish province and rural culture as inferior, “second”, which can only sing and dance as PiS plays to it. The Lord perceives it as an almost exotic, foreign land that one can despise, but cannot identify with, he adds.
In his entry on the X website, Kołodziejczak emphasizes that it is never too late to reflect – even for President Kaczyński, although when he received the letter he told the deputy minister that he felt better than him.
Today, in these difficult times, we all need wisdom to rise above divisions. In trying hours we must be united. Today, greatness means rejecting prejudice and a paternalistic tone. Today, anyone who consciously and insidiously divides the nation is not a patriot. You must once and for all get rid of complexes towards your better “company”, to which you have been making yourself credible for years by despising the representatives of the people. I do not wish this type of statements from you in the future, neither towards me nor towards other MPs. for the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of the 10th term – appeals Kołodziejczak.
