Last year, Ukraine imported almost 13 percent more agricultural products from abroad than the year before. More than half of the goods came from the EU, and Poland is at the forefront of the countries from which supplies came.
Data from the Ukrainian State Customs Service show that in 2023, agricultural products worth $7.1 billion were imported to Ukraine. This is almost 13 percent more than in 2022, when agri-food imports amounted to USD 6.3 billion – we read on the Latifundist website.
According to analyzes of the National Research Center – Institute of Agricultural Economics, last year the value of deliveries from the European Union increased by 9%. – from USD 3.37 billion in 2022 to USD 3.68 billion. Thus, for the fifth year in a row, the EU’s share in national imports exceeded half of the total volume and amounted to 51.6%. Supplies from Asia account for 19.1%. (for USD 1,365 million), from Latin America – 7.2% ($511 million), from Africa – 4.6%. ($326 million).
Poland in the lead?
Last year, Poland sold agricultural goods worth USD 950 million to Ukraine, while a year earlier products worth USD 881 million were imported from us. Our country ranks first among the ten countries that export the most to Ukraine – says the Ukrainian institute.

The most important products imported to Ukraine are: fruits, berries and nuts (USD 812 million), fish and seafood (USD 804 million), alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (USD 719 million), tobacco products (USD 494 million), plant seeds and fruits oilseeds ($411 million), waste and animal feed ($411 million), vegetables ($373 million), other food products ($473 million). It is worth noting that dairy products and dairy products did not appear on this list, which in turn raises questions about the range of Polish exports to Ukraine.
