Bird flu has attacked again in the Łódź Voivodeship. This time the virus appeared on a farm keeping ducks for breeding and slaughter ducks.
Bird flu strikes again
The Provincial Veterinary Officer in Łódź notified about the detection of a new outbreak of avian influenza. This is the eighth outbreak this year, the second in the Łódź Voivodeship.
According to the information provided by the Łódź Provincial Veterinary Inspectorate, the occurrence of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was this time confirmed on a commercial farm located in Wróblew, Wróblew commune, Sieradz poviat, Łódź voivodeship.
The second outbreak of bird flu in the Łódź Voivodeship
Let us recall that a week earlier, an HPAI No. 5 outbreak was also detected in this commune. The farm where the virus was detected held almost 50,000. slaughter turkeys.
The eighth HPAI in 2024 was detected on a farm where breeding ducks and ducks for slaughter were kept. We are currently waiting for information on the number of animals in the outbreak.
The H5N1 avian influenza virus subtype was found in this outbreak. Procedures to eliminate the disease have been implemented on the farm.
So far, the number of poultry in outbreaks (outbreaks 1-7) is 193,520.
