The Ministry of Agriculture is preparing favorable changes for organic farmers. More of them will benefit from the premium for sustainable production.
The Ministry of Agriculture has sent for public consultations a draft amendment to the regulation of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development on the detailed conditions and procedure for granting financial assistance under the “Organic farming” measure covered by the Rural Development Program for 2014-2020.
More farmers will benefit from the premium for sustainable production
As explained in the regulatory impact assessment of the project, one of the proposed solutions is to change the current “entry” condition in connection with the granting of ecological payments under Package 13. Premium for sustainable plant and animal production.
The idea is to quite radically reduce the minimum stocking rate required when applying for the premium, from 0.5 DJP/ha to 0.3 DJP/ha.
– The expected effect of the proposed change will be to increase the availability of premiums for sustainable plant and animal production – it was emphasized.
Lowering the ratio also for pigs
Another solution included in the project is: changing the coefficient used to convert pigs owned by farmers into DJP, by lowering it from 0.3 to 0.1.
As highlighted in the explanatory note: the new value of the indicator will be more aligned with the value resulting from taking into account the pig production cycle.
The Ministry of Agriculture also wants farmers with deer – fallow deer and red deer – to be able to apply for ecological payments in 2024, “for which a derogation from the obligation to register them in the computer database (IRZ) has been applied.”
The new regulations are to enter into force on March 15, 2024. They will probably cover 13,000. beneficiaries – this is at least the estimated number of farmers who will submit applications for ecological payments in the 2024 campaign.
