After a dark series of declines in the prices of dairy products on the New Zealand Global Dairy Trade exchange, there has finally been a revival and this time the changes in the price index are green.
After six weeks on the New Zealand GDT stock exchange, dairy product prices increased again. Stopping the decline in the dairy products market may also limit the downward pressure on the raw milk market.
Session of April 2 this year. on the Global Dairy Trade exchange this time ended in positive territory. The value of the general price index at the last auction increased by 2.8%, which is exactly the amount by which prices fell last time.
The increase in the general price index translated into an increase in the prices of most categories of dairy products offered. The largest increase was recorded in the case of Cheddar cheese (+4.1%). However, the largest decrease occurred in the case of lactose (-3.1%).
The number of dairy products sold is gradually decreasing
At the last GDT session, 18,737 tons of dairy products were sold, which was a result of almost 1,000 tons. ton lower compared to the previous auction. The results of the last GDT session are as follows:
- Anhydrous milk fat – increase by 2.3%,
- Butter – increase by 3.1%,
- Buttermilk powder – decrease by 0.5%,
- Cheddar cheese – increase by 4.1%,
- Lactose – decrease by 3.1%,
- Mozzarella – not offered.,
- Skimmed milk powder – increase by 1.4%,
- Whole milk powder – increase by 3.4%.
