This year’s grain harvest should not be smaller than last year, said Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, chairman of the Presidential Council for Agriculture and Rural Areas, in an interview with PAP. He expressed hope that the new tender for the lease of the grain terminal in Gdynia will be won by the National Food Group.
- Referring to the analyzes of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development presented on Wednesday at the Council meeting, Ardanowski pointed out that this year’s grain harvest should not be smaller than last year.
- The former Minister of Agriculture said that in the coming months attention should be paid to food imports from Ukraine because “it may affect grain prices after the harvest.”

Ardanowski also signaled that the National Food Group will have an impact on the stabilization of the agri-food market. He emphasized that the process of this entity should be completed as soon as possible. He expressed hope that KGS would win the new tender for the lease of the grain terminal in Gdynia. 0 I am glad that the old tender was canceled for security reasons, he said.
This opens the possibility that a state entity can be the operator of a grain terminal and not only commercially use the wharf, but also implement government policy, he pointed out.
He reminded that the list of bidders in the new procedure will be announced on July 3 this year.
The Baltic Grain Terminal is a specialized bulk terminal offering reloading services and temporary storage of cereals, oilseeds and feed raw materials. As the Port of Gdynia informs on its website, the terminal has flat warehouses, silos and an elevator with a total capacity enabling the storage of up to 72,000. tons of cargo.
The tender for the lease of the terminal until 2053 was announced in October 2022. November 8 last year The Port of Gdynia Authority informed that, as a result of the public procedure, the offer submitted by the consortium: Szczecin Bulk Terminal, Tapini and Ribera was considered the most advantageous. On December 15, a preliminary conditional lease agreement was concluded with the consortium.
However, the decision of the Port of Gdynia authorities was met with sharp criticism from both agricultural organizations and representatives of the new government. The tender was invalidated.
