The difficulties resulting from the protest of farmers who have been blocking the border crossing with Ukraine in Korczowa in the province since Thursday have ended. Podkarpackie – GDDKiA announced on Saturday. Farmers demand that the government implement arrangements regarding, among others, embargoes on agricultural products from Ukraine.
On Thursday, Polish farmers blocked the border crossings with Ukraine in the province. Podkarpackie and Lublin. The protest was related to the fact that farmers cannot sell their grain because the market is flooded with grain from Ukraine. In their opinion, the arrangements with the government from March this year are not implemented. Both parties – the government and the farmers – agreed, among others: maintaining the embargo on agricultural products from Ukraine and regulating trade relations with this country.
On Saturday, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announced the end of difficulties at the border crossing in Korczowa (Podkarpackie Voivodeship).
On Thursday evening, Prime Minister Donald Tusk appealed to protesting farmers not to block border crossings with Ukraine. He assured that the government is prepared “to provide further forms of assistance to those who lost their lives in the war between Russia and Ukraine through no fault of their own.”
Vasyl Zwarycz, the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, also called for an end to blocking Ukrainian border crossings.
– Help Ukraine survive and defend itself and you against the Russian aggressor – he emphasized.
Last week, Prime Minister Tusk announced that there would be help for grain producers, but only for those who suffered from the excessive inflow of grain from Ukraine.
