Manure and slurry on a busy road were the cause of three serious accidents in Brandenburg. The road was polluted by protesting farmers.
German police are investigating the causes and circumstances of three serious road accidents on the B5 road near Wustermark, Havelland district. Five people were injured in the incident, and protesting farmers are blamed, reports the Tagesschau daily.
According to police findings, on Sunday evening the road was contaminated with manure and slurry by farmers who were accompanied by local entrepreneurs in their protest. As a result, three oncoming passenger cars fell into a pile of manure or crashed due to skidding. Five people traveling in the cars suffered injuries and were taken to hospitals.
Farmers are in trouble
The Brandenburg police confirmed to the media that the agricultural protest resulted in “dangerous road traffic disruptions”, but the classification of the events and possible charges against the perpetrators may be much more serious. However, there are no reports of possible arrests yet.
The president of the Brandenburg Farmers’ Association (LBV), Henrik Wendorff, condemned the form of protest. He stated that “this should not have happened” and that “boundaries were crossed” in Wustermark. Everything indicates that the protest was not reported, so it was not properly secured.
