The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) believes that Ukraine will increase exports of grain and agricultural products by 15 percent this year.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) forecasts that grain exports from Ukraine will increase by 15 percent this year. These predictions were revealed by the deputy head of the agency, Isobel Coleman, during her visit to Kiev last Friday, reports the Ukrainian Ukrinform agency.
USAID justifies its forecast with the external assistance provided to Ukraine so far, which included investments in ports, transport and logistics to expand export opportunities. Funds from the USA had a large share in these investments. USAID from 2022 donated USD 1.5 billion to Ukraine for the reconstruction of destroyed infrastructure and increasing the capacity to store and transport grain. It also provided Ukraine with an additional $500 million in private investments.
The deputy administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Isobel Coleman, also announced another aid program for Ukraine, worth $250 million. People and agricultural enterprises affected by the war can count on support. The funds are to be used, among others: for the development of processing.
“USAID is investing in Ukraine’s agricultural sector, from seed purchases to shipping,” Coleman said. She also expressed the belief that increasing the volume of exports will allow Ukraine to generate additional profits that will allow it to continue to effectively defend the country that feeds the world.
