Monday’s USDA Crop Progress report shows corn and soybean harvest progress is nearing completion.
Corn
As of Oct. 29, 71% of corn in the top 18 corn-producing states is now harvested, up from 59% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 66%.
Soybeans
USDA says 85% of soybeans in the top 18 soybean-growing states is harvested, up from 76% the week before and ahead of the five-year average of 78%.
Winter Wheat
USDA says winter wheat is 84% planted as of Oct. 29 in the top 18 growing states, up from 77% the week prior and slightly behind the five-year average 85%.
The report says 64% of the crop has emerged, up from 53% a week ago and in line with the five-year average.
Eighteen percent of winter wheat is rated in poor/very poor condition. A total of 35% is rated fair. A total of 47% is rated in good/excellent condition.
