This is a brief summary of the research conducted by the Ariadna research panel for Farmer’s editorial office.
- Using the Ariadna research panel, the Farmer editorial team asked Polish women and men: Have you ever heard about regenerative agriculture and its advantages?
- As much as 84 percent people taking part in the survey do not know what regenerative agriculture is.
- Knowledge about regenerative agriculture is almost not influenced by the respondents’ place of residence.
- The group of respondents aged 18 to 24 had much better knowledge of the issue.
Most Poles have no idea what regenerative agriculture is and what its advantages are
Farmer’s editorial team, together with the Ariadna research panel, asked Poles a question: have you ever heard about regenerative agriculture and its advantages? However, there were no surprises in the answers provided by the respondents, because the overwhelming majority – as much as 84 percent. the respondents’ responses were negative.
This distribution of answers is not really surprising, as the first mentions of this type of agriculture appeared on our website only four years ago. As you can see, this is definitely too short a time to build common knowledge in this area. Additionally, some farmers work on their farms in accordance with the principles of regenerative or regenerative agriculture (as this name is used interchangeably) without even knowing it.
At the same time, according to research, the inhabitants of our country want farmers to take more care of the soil and the environment. Therefore, it is worth putting effort into educating virtually everyone around you in this area. As farmers, because no one will do it for us, we should explain to non-farmers that thanks to regenerative agriculture we care more about the soil and the environment. On the other hand, education in this type of cultivation should be provided to farmers and others by institutions related to agriculture, such as ODRs, Agricultural Chambers and the Ministry of Agriculture.
My editorial colleague writes more about the research results mentioned above.
Little variation in results
There is little variation in the percentage of negative responses across surveys, although there are some exceptions.
Women were only slightly less likely to have heard of regenerative agriculture (87%), compared to 81% of men.
The results of the research divided into different age groups were a positive surprise. In the group of respondents aged 45-54, as many as 89% had not heard about regenerative agriculture. respondents, and in the 55+ group it was 88 percent. However, in the group aged 18-24, only 70% had not heard about regenerative agriculture. respondents.
What was a negative surprise were the small differences in the answers grouped according to: place of residence. Here the village can boast a result of 83%. negative answers, in the city these results were slightly worse and ranged from 1 to 4 percentage points more.
Educational level had no impact on knowledge about regenerative agriculture, although it is not known how many respondents had agricultural education. There was also no marital status or number of children. However, people with income above PLN 7.5 thousand per month showed greater knowledge – only 79%. respondents gave a negative answer to our question. There were 86% of people with incomes between PLN 3,000 and PLN 7,500. negative answers. The same thing was repeated among people who assessed their financial situation as very good – then only 66 percent. people did not know the concept of regenerative agriculture. Those who rated it as bad gave a negative answer 88%.
There were large differences depending on the voivodeship in which the respondents lived. The largest number of negative responses came from the Silesian Voivodeship – 91 percent, while the smallest number of people who did not know what regenerative agriculture is was in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship – only 77 percent. respondents. The level of agriculture in a given voivodeship has no influence here, because in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Greater Poland voivodeships this result was 89%. negative answers.
The survey was conducted between March 15 and 17 this year. for the Farmer editorial office by the Ariadna Research Panel on a nationwide sample of 1,104 people using the CAWI method. The amounts were selected according to the representation in the population of Poles aged 18 and over, gender, age and size of place of residence.
