Exports of cereals and legumes from Ukraine in the 2023/24 financial year amounted to 37.6 million tons. While the export of corn and barley decreased, the export of wheat increased significantly.

According to Latifundist, citing data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy from April 12 this year, exports of cereals and legumes from Ukraine in the 2023/24 marketing year reached 37.6 million tons. This is about 4 percent. less than in the same period of the previous year, when the volume amounted to 39.1 million tons.

Statistics from the Ukrainian Customs Service also show that the largest amount of wheat was exported – 14.7 million tons. That’s 9.4 percent. more year to year. However, wheat flour exports decreased by 33%. – up to 78.3 thousand tone.

Decreases were recorded in the case of corn, 20.4 million tons of which were exported abroad, by 11.2%. less than in the same period of the previous year, and in barley – 2.1 million tons (-8.65%) and rye – 1 thousand. tons (17.8 thousand tons in 2022/23 MR) – reports Latifundist.

The decline in corn grain is primarily the result of Chinese importers abandoning Ukrainian supplies. They have already refused to collect the 5th batch of Ukrainian corn that they had previously reserved.
