The Cynkomet Wapniak RWN-8000 lime spreader has undergone significant modernization. There is a modern control monitor, an adjustable hitch, new drive transmission elements and several other interesting changes. We checked it during a field show at one of the farms that had recently purchased such a spreader.

Many Farmer readers probably remember our editorial test of the Cynkomet RWN-8000 lime spreader with the telling name “Wapniak”. We conducted field trials in 2022, right after the harvest. The machine that was delivered to us was actually the first copy in which the manufacturer declared that it would introduce some changes. Now we had the opportunity to see the modernized Wapniak in one of the farms in Masovia.

Wapniak’s improvements “have come into force”

Overall, the test we conducted less than two years ago was positive. The machine coped perfectly with sowing dry and wet lime, and piles of earth and tufts of grass that accidentally got into the spreader’s box did not pose a problem for its operation.

The machine worked efficiently and was easy to operate. But of course we also had some comments. In our review of the test, we wrote, among other things: “… It would be useful to change the control system and it seems that, having its own hydraulic system, the machine should have more mechanisms powered hydraulically and not by PTO shafts.”

These types of changes have just been introduced.

First of all, a modern controller

One of the most important changes is the replacement of the clunky controller, which served its purpose but was large – box-shaped – and did not contain a monitor. The monitor with camera views was separate – integrated with the controller.

Now we are dealing with a modern controller with a built-in monitor from which all the spreader’s functions are operated, and the display shows the view from the cameras installed on the spreader.

An interesting feature is the automatic opening of the shutter to maintain the sowing dose. You can enter material data from the controller database or add your own settings.

Other changes

The ability to operate all machine elements from the controller includes: thanks to the hydraulic system located on the spreader. In the spreader we tested two years ago, the mixer levers in the box were still switched on (e.g. for mixing various types of fertilizers), now they are also switched on hydraulically with a solenoid valve.

Other important changes include the adjustable drawbar (possibility of connecting to the lower or upper hitch and placing the sowing discs at a higher height above the ground.

How much does Cynkomet Wapniak RWN-8000 cost? The basic version of the spreader costs PLN 126,700 net (without curtains, own hydraulics, mixers, tarpaulin and without scales). The version we had the opportunity to see during the shows (own hydraulics, full control from a monitor, curtain, tarpaulin, cameras, etc.) costs approximately PLN 175,000 net.
