Farmers blocking the S3 road appealed to the District Court in Szczecin against the decision of the mayor of Myślibórz, who on Monday refused to allow them to continue their protest. The court will consider the appeal on Wednesday morning.

– We want to use all legal remedies available to us – said Roman Waszczyk, spokesman for farmers protesting in Myślibórz.

We will wait for the court’s decision. Later, an appeal may be submitted to the Court of Appeal. And we will discuss what to do next.

On Monday, the mayor of Myślibórz issued a negative decision in response to the request of March 22 regarding the meeting that farmers wanted to continue on the S3 road until June 30. He argued this for safety reasons.

The police informed that the need to bypass the blockade using provincial road No. 119 causes major traffic difficulties. Accidents occur on the detour route. From February 26 to March 27, on the section DW119 Renice – Myślibórz, the police recorded 17 collisions and two accidents. One person died on the spot. Previously, there were only three accidents in 14 months.

The gathering planned for the next 72 days on the S3 national road (Myślibórz junction), which is an important communication artery in Poland, poses a real threat to the health and life of people and property to a significant extent – it was written in the justification of the decision.

The people reporting the meeting appealed to the District Court in Szczecin. The spokesman for this court, Judge Tomasz Szaj, confirmed that the documents in this case were received on Tuesday around 2.00 p.m. The hearing during which the appeal will be considered is scheduled for Wednesday at 9.00. Farmers will have 24 hours to appeal against the decision of the district court to the Court of Appeal in Szczecin, i.e. the final decision on the continuation of the S3 blockade at the Myślibórz junction must be made by Thursday (April 18).

On Tuesday, protesting farmers had 12.00 to meet with the mayor of Myślibórz, Piotr Sobolewski, but no talks took place.

From the beginning of the protest, our cooperation with the office was good. However, due to the negative decision regarding the assembly, today’s meeting did not take place. Our colleagues had to go to Szczecin to submit documents to the court, said Waszczyk.

Farmers are waiting for a meeting with the Prime Minister. The date was to be announced on April 16

In the conversation, Waszczyk emphasized that farmers “are still waiting for a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.” He estimated that only some of the agricultural demands had been met. He admitted that modifications to the provisions of the Green Deal – which he confirmed, among others, EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski – “they will make it easier for farmers to work.”

– We still expect a meeting with the Prime Minister and the preparation of regulations on matters to which the government has committed itself. We would like to see a record of what the government intends to do and when. Such a document would be the basis for suspending our protest, concluded Waszczyk.
