After a series of increases in milk prices in the second half of last year. beginning of this year brought a slight correction.

The beginning of the year on the milk market saw a slowdown in the upward trend that started in the second half of last year. The slight price drops currently occurring should be treated as a correction.

Milk in Poland is more expensive than in the EU

It is worth noting that for four months the average purchase price of milk in Poland (according to EC data) has been higher than the EU average, which has happened only seven times in the history of quotations. In February, milk in Poland was close to 3%. more expensive than in the EU as a whole.

In February, according to the Central Statistical Office, the average price of raw milk in Poland decreased by 0.8%. to the level of PLN 205.38/100 l. This was the second consecutive decline after an earlier series of four months of price increases. From February 2023 to February 2024, milk became cheaper by 9.7%.

According to EC data, in February last year the weighted average price of raw milk purchased in the EU-27 decreased by 0.1%. up to 46.42 euros/100 kg. Over the last 12 months, the average EU milk price has decreased by 13.0%. This was the second consecutive month of a slight decline in the average purchase price of raw milk on the EU market.

During the year, the price of milk in Poland decreased by only 0.9%.

According to EC data, the price of raw milk in Poland did not change in February and amounted to EUR 47.65/100 kg. In February 2023-February 2024, quotations decreased by 0.9%. The current milk price in Poland is 2.6% higher. from the EU average.

On the New Zealand GDT platform, the index showing changes in dairy product prices increased by 2.8% in the last session (April 2, 2024). and is by 12.4 percent. higher than this time last year.

During the last tender, the price of whole milk powder (WMP) increased by 3.4 percent, the price of skimmed milk powder (SMP) increased by 1.4 percent, and the price of butter increased by 3.1 percent.
