About Sims Park Coonoor

Spreading over 12 hectares, the stunning park is segregated into four distinct sections: a rose garden, a small Lily pond, a flowering plants area, and a boating area. Flaunting an array of various species of trees and shrubs which have been hand-picked from all corners of the world. Some of the remarkable highlights of the park include Rudraksha Tree, Queensland Karry Pine Handsome Ornamental Tree, etc.

History

Located at an altitude of 1780 meters above sea level, the Coonoor Sims Park is a rather unusual park cum botanical garden that was established focusing on the naturally appearing vivid landscape. Established in 1874, the main brainchild behind the design of the Park is Major Murray and Mr. J.D. Sims. With naturally occurring trees, creepers, and shrubs, the park weaves a perfect setting to seek serenity, whilst being engulfed by Mother Nature.
