Prices of construction materials in March 2024 vs. 2023 increased only in 4 groups

Commodity prices in March 2024, compared to March 2023, increased only in 4 commodity groups: paints, varnishes (+3%), cement, lime (+2%), joinery (+0.1%) and construction chemicals (+0.04%).

The price drop occurred in 16 groups: equipment, household appliances, automotive and tiles, bathrooms, kitchens (-1% each), decorations, installations, heating and tools (-2% each), waterproofing, walls, chimneys and lighting, electricity ( -4% each), garden and hobby and thermal insulation (-5% each), dry construction, house surroundings and finishing (-7% each), and roofs, gutters (-8%). The largest decline occurred in the OSB and wood category (-23%).

We compare the prices of building materials from March to February 2024.

In turn, the prices of construction products in March 2024, compared to February this year, increased slightly in 5 commodity groups: thermal insulation and walls, chimneys (+2%), cement, lime (+1%), paints, varnishes (+0.3%) and garden and hobbies (+0.2%).

Prices dropped in 15 groups. Prices dropped by approximately 1% in the following categories: home surroundings, furnishings, household appliances and decorations. In the following groups, they decreased by 2%: tiles, bathrooms, kitchens, carpentry, installations, heating, construction chemicals, lighting, electricity, drywall, automotive and tools.

The largest declines occurred in the following categories: waterproofing and finishing (-3% each) and OSB boards, wood and roofs, gutters (-4% each).

However, for the period January-March 2024 vs. the same period in 2023, there was an increase in prices in 5 commodity groups, with the largest increase in cement and lime (+10%).

Other groups were as follows: paints, varnishes (+4%), construction chemicals (+1%), and prices increased slightly in the following categories: carpentry and automotive. Meanwhile, price declines occurred in 15 groups: furnishings, household appliances (-0.2%), decorations, tiles, bathrooms, kitchens (-1% each), installations, heating and tools (-2% each), waterproofing and garden and hobby (-3%), lighting, electricity (-4%), house surroundings (-5%), walls, chimneys (-7%), finishing, drywall and roofs, gutters (-8% each) and thermal insulation (-9%). And the largest price drop occurred in OSB boards and wood (-23%).
