Krzysztof Jażdżewski was appointed by the Minister of Agriculture to the position of Chief Veterinary Officer – the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate announced in a statement on Wednesday.
Today, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, handed Krzysztof Jażdżewski an act of appointment to the position of Chief Veterinary Officer – the announcement said.
It was added that Krzysztof Jażdżewski was previously the deputy head of the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate.
Who is Krzysztof Jażdżewski?
In the years 2004-2006, Chief Veterinary Officer, and in 2006-2018, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer.
In 2018, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, dismissed Krzysztof Jażdżewski from the position of Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer for Animal Health and for the European Union and International Cooperation.
At that time, the dismissal of the person who agreed to import fattened pigs from Lithuania from the zone subject to restrictions due to the occurrence of ASF was demanded by protesting farmers on the A2 route on December 12, 2018. Minister Ardanowski assured that the person who issued such a decision would be dismissed from work and so he did.
Therefore, unofficially, Jażdżewski’s dismissal was linked to those events. Translations from the Ministry of Agriculture indicated that the decisions issued were consistent with EU legislation, but inconsistent with the interests of Polish farmers.
