A speeding truck crashed into tractors standing at an agricultural blockade in Rogów, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Farmers started a collection and collected money for a new vehicle for a friend.
The fatal collision occurred on March 20 during a farmers’ strike on the S5 expressway in Rogowo, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The truck hit agricultural tractors blocking the road. It damaged three tractors and one of them was completely crushed. The perpetrator of the collision that destroyed the tractor did not enter the farmers’ block on purpose. According to police findings, he probably fell asleep at the wheel.
When it turned out that the tractor owner had no chance of receiving compensation under third party liability insurance and would have no means of driving to the field, other protest participants announced a collection on the Zrzutka.pl website. The organizers from the Young Farmers’ Movement set the bar high and set themselves the goal of collecting PLN 300,000 for the purchase of a tractor. This is how much the destroyed machine cost.
The campaign received an exceptional response and, most importantly, the goal was achieved. The collection was completed after just three days, when donors donated a total of PLN 300,825! According to recent reports, the money is to be divided among the four affected farmers. However, if the owner of the wrecked tractor manages to recover money from the perpetrator’s third party liability insurance, the collected donations will go to charity.
