On June 13, we were present at Osadkowski’s Zielone Pola in Straszewo in the province. Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. On good Kujawy lands, irrigated and fertilized with manure, the organizers prepared impressive varietal plots. What could we see on them?

The Osadkowski company was founded in 1990 by Beata and Władysław Osadkowski. The family company has transformed from a local distributor of agricultural production inputs into a nationwide tycoon offering agricultural machinery, fertilizers, seed material, plant protection products, purchase of agricultural produce and agricultural insurance.

Winter wheat

On the plots in Straszew we could see, among others, RGT Metronom winter wheat from RAGT breeding. It is a medium-late variety, with high yield potential and good winter hardiness. RGT Metronom wheat is suitable for weaker sites, also with reduced pH, and tolerates delayed sowing dates. This variety is characterized by good health and produces grain that meets the quality requirements of group A.

Another proposition from Osadkowski’s offer is Apostel winter wheat, bred by IGP. It is high-quality wheat with good health and winter hardiness. This variety is characterized by high yield potential, also in conditions of periodic water shortage.

For fans of bone wheat, Osadkowski offers the Artimus variety, bred by Saatbau. It is classified as an elite plant, characterized by high yield potential even in conditions of periodic water shortage. This is a very early variety, intended to reach maturity before the heat has a negative impact on the yield level. It is also characterized by very good winter hardiness and resistance to rust, powdery mildew, brown leaf spot and septoria blight.

Karyatyda winter wheat comes from the Danko farm. It is also a quality wheat, referred to as the E/A group. It is characterized by high yield potential and good winter hardiness, and also tolerates weaker locations and periodic water shortages. An important feature is certainly resistance to snow mold, powdery mildew, stem base diseases, yellow rust, brown leaf spot and Fusarium ear blight.

Winter rapeseed

LG Aphrodite is a hybrid variety of winter rapeseed bred by Limagrain, praised by representatives of the Osadkowski company due to its good health and a large number of side branches, which translates into high yield potential. This variety is resistant to turnip yellows virus and cabbage dry rot. In addition, an important feature is good winter hardiness, as well as very good vigor at the beginning of the growing season and after winter.

The proposal from a Polish breeder – Hodowla Plant Strzelce – is the population variety Mars. It is characterized by high yield potential, even in weaker locations and with periodic water shortages. The Mars variety is characterized by a low canopy, and an important feature is resistance to stem base diseases and cabbage dry rot. What is also important, the seeds are highly oily.

SY Ilona, in turn, is a population variety offered by Osadkowski, bred by Syngenta. It is characterized by high yield potential, good health and tolerance to weaker locations. It is a late variety, requiring time to obtain a large mass of one thousand seeds, as well as requiring sowing at the optimal date due to its slow initial development.

An interesting proposition for supporters of hybrid varieties is Metropol winter rapeseed by Rapool. In addition to high yield potential, this variety is characterized by a deep root system and, importantly, resistance to turnip yellows virus, stem base disease, cabbage dry rot and sclerotia. Representatives of the Osadkowski company emphasize uniform ripening as well as tolerance for delayed sowing dates.
