David Shultz, a 53-year-old man, was last seen picking up a load of pigs from Eagle Grove, Iowa, in November. His truck was found on Nov. 21, facing away from his delivery location in Sac County.
For 71 days since Schultz’s disappearance, his wife, Sarah, has posted about her missing husband on social media.
The Sac County Board of Supervisors has offered a $25,000 reward to help find the missing man. Volunteers and organizations have deployed drones and cadaver dogs, combing areas in hopes of finding clues to Schultz’s disappearance.
Despite being unsuccessful in their search, groups were able to find another missing man — Mark Riesburg — of Iowa. Riesburg went missing on Oct. 28 after leaving his phone and wallet at home. He was found dead with a single bullet wound; foul play is not suspected.
The Sac County Sheriff’s Department has continued investigating Shultz’s disappearance. And his wife is adamant that foul play was involved.
“He wouldn’t leave his boys,” she has shared on numerous occasions on Facebook.
Many on Facebook share concerns about foul play. Last week, Sarah Shultz posted to a cattle trucking group on Facebook about a suspicious incident that another trucker had shared with her.
“He was in the same vicinity as your husband,” shared the trucker. A carload of people began pointing at his truck as if to tell him something was wrong with the vehicle. “He, of course, ignored them. They pulled in front of his semi and were brake-checking him to get him to stop.”
According to Sarah Shultz’s post, the driver ignored them and called 9-1-1 to report the incident.
“When the car stopped again, he rammed their car, sending them into the median,” she wrote on Facebook that the driver conveyed to her.
After hitting the other car, dispatch told him not to stop and that the police would respond.
Another driver, Chad Hanson, posted on social media about an incident in November on Highway 20 (a similar location to where Shultz went missing). Hanson reported that another vehicle started trying to get him to stop, slowing down in front of the trucker and turning on their lights.
The driver also called 9-1-1 and continued talking to dispatch for 40 miles. He was instructed not to stop. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and the Sioux City Journal reported that the reckless driver was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and felony possession of a firearm.
Although responding to law enforcement, the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that there was no indication that the traffic stop is connected to David Schultz, the incidents are no less hair-raising.
