Why bonus points for a young farmer?

When submitting an application for a premium for a young farmer, remember that it will be assessed according to several criteria that are scored. The condition for qualifying an application is to obtain 7 points. They also decide on the order in which aid is granted. So what can you get points for in the young farmer bonus?

Already on June 19 this year. – in accordance with the schedule for the recruitment of applications for support under PS CAP 2023-2027 – ARiMR will start accepting applications for the Young Farmer Premium. This recruitment will last until August 19. Up to 200,000 are up for grabs. zloty!

Why bonus points for a young farmer?

To receive assistance, an applicant must obtain at least 7 pointswhich can be obtained for:

  • area of agricultural land on the farm in the initial year – if the area of the newly created farm is larger than the national or voivodship average, the applicant will be able to receive a maximum of 3 points;
  • professional qualifications or skills – depending on the level of education or work experience in agriculture, you can obtain from 1 to 4 points;
  • age difference between the person transferring the farm and the young farmer – if it is between 15 and 25 years, 3 points are awarded, over 25 years – 5 points;
  • taking over the entire farm (the transferor may leave no more than 0.5 ha of agricultural land) – 4 points;
  • participation (or planned participation) in quality systems – if the applicant participates or plans to join EU or national quality systems, he or she may receive no more than 5 points;
  • economic size of the farm in the initial year – it is determined based on the production carried out on agricultural land at the farmer’s disposal no later than 12 months from the date of granting the aid – a maximum of 3 points can be obtained;
  • conducting animal production – in a situation where 50% of the calculated economic value is obtained from animal production, the farmer is entitled to 2 points;
  • the applicant’s current professional activity – if the applicant is a person with the status of a household member under the provisions on social insurance for farmers or is a student, student or registered unemployed person, 1 point will be awarded.

In addition to the scoring criteria, additional tie-breaking criteria will apply. With the same number of points obtained, aid will be granted to women first, followed by the initial area of agricultural land (priority for larger farms) and then the age of the applicant (priority for younger people).

What is also important, receiving a bonus does not bind a young farmer to KRUS insurance – he may be covered by ZUS. However, it is important that by the end of 5 years, counted from the date of payment of the first installment of aid, at least 60% of his income comes from his agricultural or agricultural-related activities.

What if a young farmer cannot get the entire farm?

– Then we don’t have points for takeover and age difference. But there are many other possibilities, but you have to try. However, there is still PLN 200,000 in the game, so I think it is worth it. We can get from 1 to 3 points for the economic size of the farm; if someone does not have a large area, they need to think about crops. These can be some vegetables, fruits and some sunflowers for flowers, which has a huge conversion rate. To these points we can add points for quality systems, the best option and the one giving the most points is ecology. We have as many as 4 points for this system. 50% of organic crops is enough, but only from the target period. As you can easily calculate, we have 7 points again for the above-mentioned criteria. That’s enough, explains Dawid Kowalczyk, president of the Polish Agency for Obtaining EU Funds.
