
According to data from the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate, over the past seven days, nearly 30 ASF outbreaks in wild boars have been confirmed in the country. After a long break, the disease returned to the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
This time, ASF outbreaks were reported in five voivodeships. What attracts attention is the return of the disease to the Opatów district in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship after a long break. The last time the feral plague was confirmed in this part of the country was in early December. So far, in the Świętokrzyskie province, plague has occurred in the Opatów and Sandomierz counties.
Where did ASF in wild boars occur?
ASF outbreaks reported over the past week concern the following locations:
Lower Silesia:
- Bolesławiec poviat (Bolesławiec and Nowogrodziec communes)
- Górowski district (Góra commune)
- Lubań poviat (Platerowka commune)
- Środa County (Kostomłoty commune)
- Trzebnica poviat (Wisznia Mała commune)
- Wołów district (Wołów commune)
Pomeranian Voivodeship:
- Kwidzyn poviat (Kwidzyn commune)
- Sztum County (Mikolajki Pomorskie Commune)
Holy Cross province:
- Opatów district (Ożarów and Tarłów communes)
Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship:
- Ostróda poviat (Miłomłyn commune)
West Pomeranian voivodeship:
- Gryfino district (Gryfino and Stare Czarnowo communes)
- Police County (Dobra and Police communes)
- Pyrzycki poviat (Kozielice commune)
- city of Szczecin
In the 29 ASF outbreaks confirmed last week, traces of the virus were confirmed in the tissues of 38 animals. 16 outbreaks concern shot animals and 13 dead wild boars.

ASF in 2024
Since the beginning of the year, 163 ASF outbreaks in wild boars have been confirmed in Poland. They appeared in all voivodeships except Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Łódź, Silesian, Lesser Poland and Podkarpackie.
In the same period last year, there were approximately 350 ASF outbreaks in the wild boar population. Throughout 2023, nearly 2,700 plague outbreaks were confirmed in wild boars and 30 disease outbreaks in the domestic pig population.
