European agriculture is in a major crisis. All because of the restrictive provisions of the Green Deal and the European Union’s climate policy. Extremely important issues related to environmental protection and climate security directly affect agriculture, which has already undergone a huge transformation in recent years.
Buzek: We talk about Europe’s food security with hope
The issues of food security in Europe, especially in the face of the war in Ukraine, are extremely important and will be one of the topics of this year’s EEC.
The issue of food security is extremely important. We all feel that we cannot survive even a few days without food and clean water. This food, tasty, healthy, in sufficient quantity, not too expensive, but also not so cheap that our farmers cannot make a living from selling this food, this will be a very important topic at the congress – announces Jerzy Buzek, Member of the European Parliament, chairman EEC Program Council. – We will talk about it with great caution and with great hope, because changes in agriculture will also be gradually necessary due to our large climate package.
Buzek emphasizes that we cannot abandon responsibility for future generations.
We must implement this climate package, but if some issues, especially related to agriculture, are too worrying, especially today, when we have tension on agricultural markets, it must be said clearly that it is more caused by the decline in product prices on world markets than even because of for the transport of grain or other agricultural products from Ukraine, the behavior of Russia is also very dangerous, as it lowers prices on the world market through dumping, which is why our agriculture is in great trouble, we must take all this into account. This will be the task for the coming years, he emphasizes.

All aspects of the CAP must be used
It also announces that the energy transformation must be carried out sensibly and with respect for the work of all industries.
The transformation must be carried out in such a way that we absolutely do not lose our competitiveness. Therefore, we will introduce restrictions on this transformation. For example, restrictions on the import of products from countries where emission rules do not apply, he argues.
In his statements, Jerzy Buzek also emphasizes the importance of the Common Agricultural Policy, the shape of which will be discussed during the next lecture.
We have already forgotten how much the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union has given us. We must use all aspects of the CAP if we want the Union to develop and create jobs in a green economy that is attractive to young people and give opportunities to all generations, given all these responses to threats, he adds.
During the May EEC, many topics related to agriculture will be discussed. The topic of discussion will include Polish agriculture in the face of the CAP, as well as the opportunities and challenges of Polish food abroad.
