
Over the course of seven days, six pig ASF outbreaks have been confirmed in Poland. The last outbreak was confirmed yesterday in the Nowe Miasto district (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship).
This is the second ASF outbreak confirmed in this region last week. Earlier, the disease was confirmed in the neighboring Kisielice commune, which belongs to the Iława poviat.
So far, the Chief Veterinary Officer has not provided the size of the herd in which the disease outbreak occurred.
Pig ASF outbreaks in 2024
However, we have received details of the first five outbreaks confirmed this year in Poland. And yes:
- Outbreak No. 1/2024 was confirmed in the town of Zadębce (Trzeszczany commune, Hrubieszów poviat, Lublin Voivodeship) in a herd of 10 pigs
- Outbreak No. 2/2024 was confirmed in the town of Sobiewola (Kisielice commune, Iława poviat, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) in a herd of 146 pigs
- Outbreak No. 3/2024 was confirmed in the town of Nieznań (Stare Czarnowo commune, Gryfino poviat, West Pomeranian Voivodeship) in a herd of 28 pigs
- Outbreaks no. 4/2024 and 5/2024 were confirmed in Długa Goślina (Murowana Goślina commune, Poznań poviat, Greater Poland Voivodeship) in herds of 34 and 102 pigs, respectively.

Swine ASF in 2023
Over the last year, 30 pig ASF outbreaks were confirmed in Poland. Most of them occurred in the Lublin and Greater Poland voivodeships. In addition, the disease also appeared in the following voivodeships: Lower Silesia, Masovia, Warmia-Masuria and West Pomerania.
