Ukraine’s response to border blockades by Polish farmers may be a ban on the import of Polish food, announced the Minister of Agrarian and Food Policy of Ukraine – Mykola Solsky.
The Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture made such a declaration in an interview with Forbes. He stated that in response to the blockade of the borders by Polish farmers and carriers, Ukraine is considering introducing a ban on the import of agricultural products from Poland.
Mykola Solsky said in a conversation with journalists that a decision on this matter could be made within two weeks, but everything depends on the development of events.
-We support a constructive approach, but we will also be ready to react, said the minister.
The head of the ministry admitted that the government has not yet decided what specific restrictions to introduce, but the most likely scenario is a restriction or complete ban on the import of Polish dairy products and fruit. Such a decision would have tangible and noticeable consequences for the Polish side.
-We will conduct active negotiations with the Polish side and depending on their effectiveness, we will make a decision – Solski noted.
