The ban on exporting hatching eggs, live poultry and unprocessed poultry products and raw materials to the Ukrainian market has ended, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced on Wednesday.
In Wednesday’s announcement, the ministry indicated that “Ukraine has lifted the restrictions introduced due to the occurrence of Newcastle disease in Poland.” As added, this decision was published in the Regulation of the Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Ukraine of February 23, 2024.
The Chief Veterinary Officer announced the occurrence of Newcastle disease on July 11. The disease outbreak was detected on a poultry farm in Topilec in the Turośń Kościelna commune in the Białystok district (Podlaskie). This is the first case in Poland in 49 years.
Two days later, Ukraine introduced a ban on the import of hatching eggs, live poultry and unprocessed poultry products and raw materials from Poland. In early August, these restrictions were eased by Ukraine’s recognition of regionalization with regard to Newcastle disease, which meant that “the ban on the import of hatching eggs, live poultry and unprocessed poultry products and raw materials was lifted except in areas affected by Newcastle disease virus, designated by the competent authority of the Republic of Poland.
