Three new bird flu outbreaks have appeared on the map of Poland. Due to the occurrence of HPAI, over 76,000 were disposed of. ducks and turkeys for slaughter.

The Chief Veterinary Inspectorate announced the detection of three further outbreaks of bird flu. Sixteen HPAI outbreaks have already been detected this month.

According to the information posted on the website of the Chief Veterinary Inspectorate, the 21st HPAI outbreak in Poland this year was confirmed on February 24, 2024 on a commercial farm in the town of Gałązki Małe, in the Nowe Skalmierzyce commune, Ostrowski poviat, Greater Poland Voivodeship. This farm was maintained 33,520 turkeys for slaughter.

A week earlier, the 16th outbreak of bird flu was detected in this district. There were 9,601 reproductive ducks kept on the farm where the disease occurred at that time.

Two new outbreaks of bird flu in the Iława district

In turn, outbreaks No. 22 and 23 were found in Iława County, where a total of eight HPAI outbreaks have recently been confirmed. Due to bird flu, just over 172,000 were disposed of in this district this year. pieces of poultry.

HPAI outbreak no. 22 was detected on February 24, 2024 on a commercial farm in the town of Wola Kamieńśka, in the commune of Iława, in the Iława poviat, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. This farm was maintained 24,664 ducks for slaughter.

The 23rd outbreak of avian influenza was confirmed on February 27, 2024 on a commercial farm in the town of Windyki, in the commune of Iława, in the Iława poviat, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. This farm was maintained 18,152 turkeys for slaughter.

The H5N1 avian influenza virus subtype was found in these outbreaks.

The total number of poultry in outbreaks is currently 529,178 pieces (as of February 28, 2024).
