
The prices of purchased raw milk and its products have been increasing for several months.
There are many indications that the worst period on the milk market is over. Its prices have been rising for several months, but so have dairy products, which gives rise to some optimism. However, there is no reason to expect prices to return to the level at the end of 2022 in the near future.
In Poland, the price of milk is 6.1% higher. than the EU average
It is worth noting that for two months the average purchase price of milk in Poland (according to EC data) has been higher than the EU average, which has happened only five times in the history of quotations. In December, milk in Poland accounted for over 6%. more expensive than in the European Union as a whole.
The fourth consecutive increase in milk prices in Poland
In December, according to the Central Statistical Office, the average price of raw milk in Poland increased by 2.1%. to PLN 211.51/100 l. This was the fourth consecutive increase after a previous series of eight consecutive price declines. From December 2022 to December 2023, milk became cheaper by 23.2%.

According to EC data, in December last year the weighted average price of raw milk purchased in the EU-27 increased by 2.6%. up to 46.61 euros/100 kg. Over the last 12 months, the average EU milk price has decreased by 20.0%. This was the third consecutive month of increase in the average purchase price of raw milk on the EU market.

According to EC data, the price of raw milk in Poland increased by 3.6% in December. and amounted to EUR 49.44/100 kg. In December 2022-December 2023, quotations decreased by 16.8%. The current milk price in Poland is 6.1% higher. from the EU average.

On the New Zealand GDT platform, the index showing changes in dairy product prices increased by 4.2% in the last session (February 6, 2024). and is by 4.0 percent. higher than this time last year.
During the last tender, the price of whole milk powder (WMP) increased by 3.4%, skimmed milk powder (SMP) increased by 4.6%, and the price of butter increased by 10.3%.
