The occupiers announced that they would not return the machines to entrepreneurs who do not have passports of the Russian Federation and Russian driving licenses. Vehicles must be re-registered.
A Russian “technical inspection” operates in the occupied areas of Zaporozhye, confiscating tractors and agricultural machinery from Ukrainians under the guise of official control, the Ukrainian Center for National Resistance reported.
Tractor for citizenship
The occupation administration has also informed farmers and entrepreneurs that machines and tractors will be returned only to those who have a passport of the Russian Federation. As if that was not enough, the owner will first have to pass an examination and obtain a Russian driving license, and the machine must be re-registered in accordance with Russian regulations and successfully pass a technical inspection – of course by Russian inspectors.
They rent other people’s machines
The seizure of machinery is also a typically “Soviet” practice. For an appropriate fee, the Russians “lease” the seized equipment to other entrepreneurs in the occupied areas who are loyal to the new government.
