According to the latest calculations by analysts from the Wielkopolska Chamber of Agriculture, compared to the previous month, the loss incurred on fattening pigs in the open cycle decreased only slightly.
The profitability of fattening in May calculated by specialists was as follows.
According to the components adopted at that time, in the model based on purchased grains, breeders lost nearly PLN 170 per animal, while the loss generated in fattening based on their own grains reached nearly PLN 250. According to the latest calculations, the situation of breeders has improved only slightly.
According to the June calculations, the loss generated in fattening based on purchased cereals amounted to just over PLN 140 (approx. PLN 25 less than in May), while in fattening based on their own cereals, breeders lost approximately PLN 210 per head (almost PLN 40 less than before a month.
The difference was only slightly due to decreasing production costs (it was estimated that in June they were only PLN 10 per unit lower than a month ago), and the selling price of fattened pigs assumed by analysts had a slightly greater impact (PLN 7.20 compared to PLN 7.05 net per kilogram in May).
