– There was no meeting with members of the Polish government on the border of Ukraine and Poland on Friday, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who arrived at the common border. He announced that if the border is not unblocked by March 28, Ukraine may take retaliatory measures at border crossings.

– Today, Ukraine and Poland remain good partners and allies. Strategic allies. However, over the last six months we have been living under a constant blockade of the Ukrainian border by Poland. A blockade that affects our economy and our ability to better defend ourselves, said Shmyhal, quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

He added that a month ago the parties agreed that the border blockade was harmful to both countries and similar incidents should not be allowed.

A month has passed and we are back to this point again. But now we see blatant provocations. We are aware of the difficulties the Polish government is facing. And we are ready to help resolve this situation. We are meeting the needs – emphasized the head of the Ukrainian government.

Shmyhal said that President Volodymyr Zelensky offered the Polish authorities “a platform for talks and finding a compromise.”

Here, on the border. As equal partners and allies. And the government of Ukraine is here today. But unfortunately, such a meeting with Polish members of the government did not take place today, said Szmyhal.

As he noted, the issue of unblocking the border should be resolved by March 28, otherwise Ukraine may take retaliatory measures at border crossings. He informed that there are currently 9,000 people in queues on both sides of the border. trucks.

At Thursday’s press conference, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, referring to President Zelensky’s appeal to him for a meeting of the governments of the two countries on their common border, which would take place before Saturday’s second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, assured that he understood the situation and emotions. on the Ukrainian side. He informed that it was agreed during his visit to Kiev that the format would be recreated when the Polish and Ukrainian governments meet together.
