The Rolmako company is a strange case among Polish agricultural machinery manufacturers. On the one hand, the brand has been on the market for over 40 years, and on the other, it is actually little known among Polish farmers.
This is the result of the Rolmako brand taking the opposite route compared to most manufacturers. The company started exporting its cultivation equipment shortly after their introduction to the offer and quickly conquered new foreign markets. Today, Rolmako’s goal is to increase the recognition of the brand and its products on the Polish market, where it comes from.
It all started in 1982, when Henryk Kowalski, who came from a farming family, founded a home company producing agricultural trailers and beet harvesting machines. Then the business evolved into an enterprise known under the current Rolmako brand, based in Psary Małe near Września. The company initially produced parts for Polish agricultural machines. After several years of operation, along with the changes that affected our country, the company also included the production of parts for Western agricultural machines in its offer. A decade after its establishment, it released its first hit, i.e. rapeseed tables for all types of combine harvesters then available on the market. In 2000, bale wrappers began to leave the factory walls, and they are still used on Polish and foreign farms. Interestingly, this product was particularly popular overseas – in the USA, where a significant part of the production was sent. After a few years, the company decided to add another segment of devices to its offer. This time they were soil cultivation machines. Initially simple units, then increasingly more advanced machines. Currently, over 70 percent The machines manufactured in the Rolmako factory are semi-mounted units with a working width of over four meters.
Production for export
From the very beginning, the company tried to export its products beyond the borders of our country. Conquering new markets required time and learning about the needs of foreign customers. Farmers in Romania have different requirements than those in Australia. However, the hard and arduous work put into this process paid off. Currently, Rolmako machines are used by farmers on all continents, except, of course, Antarctica (simply because there is no agriculture there, although theoretically a snowplow, which is also in the manufacturer’s offer, could be found there). The machines are sold through an extensive network of importers. Last year, the company exported 70 percent. of its production, but there were years when even 90 percent machines produced went to farmers abroad. The company admits that thanks to exports it has learned to listen to the needs of demanding customers accustomed to the highest quality and to take care of the product at every stage of its creation. Comments on machines provided by end customers are sent to the company and implemented in subsequent versions of the machine.
Good quality
Rolmako attaches great importance to the quality of its products. This is evident from the very beginning, i.e. from the acceptance of steel, which is stored in the hall to limit its corrosion. Fine-grained steel with symbols S500 to S700 from Swedish steelworks is used to build stubble cultivators, disc harrows, pre-sowing units, subsoilers and other tillage machines. The company also has full control over the steel processing process, as all frames are manufactured at the plant. Their elements are cut on 3D lasers with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. This allows you to cut profiles with locks, which additionally strengthen them and eliminate mistakes when assembling the frame. After the welding process is completed, the frames are shot-blasted and powder-coated. However, after leaving the paint shop furnace, the quality and thickness of the paint coating are checked. After the assembly process, each machine is subjected to detailed inspection, both visual and technical. Before leaving the production hall, it is completely assembled and checked both for the operation of the hydraulic system and the correctness of the frame and its assembly.
Designed with reserve
All machines manufactured by Rolmako are designed with a design margin, which means that even if the calculations show that the frame wall could be 8 mm thick, the machine is built from profiles with a wall of 10 mm. No program can predict such different operating conditions that occur on different types of soil. Each of the machines offered by the company began its life as a prototype that was tested in real conditions on farms. After passing this phase, which usually takes about one season, the necessary corrections are made and the agricultural device goes into production. However, this does not mean the end of the development of the structure. If necessary, subsequent versions are improved based on user experience and suggestions. Overdimensioning also applies to elements such as pins and hydraulic cylinders, which has a very positive effect on the long life of the machines.
Dobre components
All machines produced in the Rolmako factory in Psary Małe are characterized by the possibility of wide configuration. The company uses only proven suppliers of components installed in machines. Starting from the selection of the manufacturer of the working element, where Bellotta, OFAS or Industriehof components are used, through the selection of various manufacturers of bearings used, e.g. in disc hubs of disc harrows, also with a 5-year warranty. In order to increase their durability, the structures use, for example, self-lubricating bronze bushings or Iglidur bushings, which are stronger than steel. It is worth emphasizing that all components subject to wear and tear are standard and if they need to be replaced, they can be purchased in almost any agricultural supply store. This fact is appreciated by farmers from outside Poland, because in the event of a failure, they do not have to order components from the manufacturer’s country, but can find them locally. The large selection concerns not only components, but also machine equipment options, especially when it comes to shafts – the company offers over 30 types of these, which is also the result of the presence of the Rolmako brand on so many diverse markets. Rolmako ensures not only high efficiency, but also reliability for a long period of operation with a 3-year warranty.
