
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management announced the continuation of the Energy for Rural Development program in 2024 for preferential loans and non-repayable renewable energy subsidies for farmers and energy cooperatives along with energy storage facilities in rural areas. What will change in the Energy for Rural 2024 program?
- The Energy for Rural 2024 program will be a continuation of the existing program, with a planned increase in the budget to PLN 3 billion, including PLN 1 billion for repayable forms of financing and PLN 2 billion for non-repayable forms of financing (grants).
- The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management announced that the beneficiary of the Energy for Rural 2024 program will be, as before, an energy cooperative or its member and farmers who will be able to apply for co-financing for the installation of renewable energy sources together with energy storage facilities located in rural and rural-urban communes.
- The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management announced that the intensity of funding from the Energy for Rural 2024 program will depend, among others, on: on the type of entity applying for support, the type of RES installation and its capacity.
The Rural Energy program is implemented by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW), and its implementation period is 2022-2030. The source of financing for the program is the Modernization Fund.
Who can get a subsidy or loan from Energy for the countryside?
The “Energy for Rural” program is intended for farmers, energy cooperatives or their members, and emerging energy cooperatives.

What renewable energy investments can subsidies or loans from Energy for the countryside be used for?
A farmer who takes advantage of the “Energy for Rural” program will be able to co-finance:
- photovoltaic installations and wind installations with a capacity above 50 kW and not more than 1 MW;
- hydroelectric power plants and agricultural biogas plants with a capacity above 10 kW and not more than 1 MW;
- energy storage, provided that it is integrated with the source implemented as part of the investment.

An existing energy cooperative or its member, or a newly established energy cooperative, who benefit from the program will be able to co-finance:
- photovoltaic installations, wind installations, hydroelectric power plants and biogas plants with a capacity above 10 kW and not more than 10 MW;
- energy storage, provided that it is integrated with the source implemented as part of the investment.
