Farmers from north-eastern Poland announced that on Friday, March 1, they will start a protest in front of the Polish-Lithuanian border in Budzisko. The protest and related disruptions are expected to last until March 7.
As informed at the Szypliszki Commune Office, the protest will start at 10. The organizers announced that, depending on the time, from 50 to 200 farmers will participate. During this time, you should expect difficulties and longer travel times across the border.
The main goal of the protest is to control and limit the transport of Ukrainian grain to Lithuania and back to Poland. Farmers expect the Lithuanian side to introduce a ban on grain imports from Ukraine and to implement transit regulations regarding grain, similar to those currently in force in Poland.
Farmers’ protests have been organized in the European Union for several days now. The demands of Polish farmers include: withdrawal from the provisions of the Green Deal, sealing the borders against the inflow of agri-food products from outside the EU, and defending animal breeding in Poland.
