The Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Taras Kachka, surprises again and again with his comments regarding Polish-Ukrainian relations. It seems that reality is distorting again, unless we don’t know something…
Deputy Minister Kachka, in an interview on RCB, surprised with his comments regarding the protests on the Polish-Ukrainian border. He stated that “the Polish government managed to convince farmers” that in products such as wheat they do not compete with Ukrainian imports, but with Russian ones. “And not in Poland, but in the region,” we read on the RCB website.
A breakthrough in the negotiations?
Kachka’s statement also shows that there was a breakthrough in negotiations with the Polish government regarding the borders, which – as he praised – was a success for Ukrainian diplomats. Most surprisingly, the minister stated that the demands of Polish farmers “are becoming more and more rational.” And one of the reasons for the softening of the protesters’ position is the fact that they realized that they were being manipulated.
Manipulated farmers?
“It’s good that farmers understand that their protests are being exploited by radical politicians and Russian special services who are trying to create the impression of inter-ethnic hostility between Ukrainians and Poles,” Kachka said in the program.
He also suggested that the leaders of the agricultural protests have admitted that they are being misused and that the Polish government is already investigating these incidents. These are probably cases of Ukrainian agricultural products being spilled from rail and road transport in Poland.
