Meat is healthy and worth eating, argue domestic butchers and meat producers. But why are they offering us soy kabanos sausages at the same time?
The “meat holidays” are approaching, so now is the best time to promote meat and meat products. Butchers and meat producers have just started fighting.
March 12 this year A press conference entitled “About the true nutritional value of meat products” was held, organized by the Association of Butchers and Meat Makers of the Republic of Poland as part of the information and educational campaign entitled “Give me Gryza.” The meeting with journalists was attended by Tomasz Parzybut – president of SRW RP and Dr. Hab. Dariusz Lisiak – prof. IBPRS from the Institute of Biotechnology of the Agricultural and Food Industry. prof. W. Dąbrowski National Research Institute in Warsaw with a presentation on the nutritional value of meat and the risks of following a vegetarian diet.
There were so many journalists at the conference that you could count them on the fingers of one hand…
– Recently, we have been witnessing frequent cases of stigmatization of meat, which is presented as an unhealthy and even dangerous product for humans. Meanwhile, no research confirms this. We, in turn, argue that everything is a matter of moderation and following a balanced diet, which should include meat products as valuable elements of nutrition that are important for human development – said Tomasz Parzybut, president of the management board of the Association of Butchers and Meats of the Republic of Poland, during the conference.
He added that he also sees a disturbing trend in promoting the production of the so-called laboratory meat, which is even called “organic”, “healthy”, “future-proof”, although it has no nutritional value.
– This meat is only supplemented at a later stage. And everyone knows that the body does not absorb supplements in the same way as vitamins from a natural product – emphasized President Parzybut.
Why does a horse have four legs?
– I am surprised that such a conference is needed to prove that a horse has four legs – said Dr. Lisiak.
He reminded that meat is an ingredient of the Messianic Feast, a wonderful, perfect dinner. Today, however, there is a fight against meat.
During his speech he emphasized that A balanced human diet must include meat, which contains many elements that determine healthy and safe human development. These include: high-quality proteins, trace elements such as iron, selenium and zinc, B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12, B5, B9) and vitamin E, polyunsaturated fatty acids from the omega-3 family, as well as other bioactive compounds such as taurine, carnosine, coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) and creatine.
– A diet containing appropriate amounts of meat is especially important for pregnant and breastfeeding women, children, athletes and the elderly. Let’s stop believing in the myths that meat is fatty and unhealthy. Moderate consumption of meat products does not increase the risk of disease, provided it is part of a healthy and balanced diet – argued Dr. Hab. Lisiak.
And he added:
– There are no studies confirming the negative impact of red meat on human health, including, for example, colon cancer and other diseases.
Eat meat, you won’t get depressed
In turn, recent scientific research has shown how dangerous it is to completely give up meat products in the human diet. It has been proven that vegetarians have higher rates of depression and anxiety disorders. In the 2023 Journal of Affective Disorder a positive relationship between the occurrence of depressive episodes and a meatless diet has been proven – Vegetarians have twice as many of these episodes as people who eat meat.
According to Dr. Lisiak, this may be the result of the fact that vegetarians do not provide the body with two important acids: EPA and DHA, which are found only in fat of meat origin, and which acids are crucial for the development and functioning of the human brain.
Continuing, Dr. Lisiak noted that there are dangerous “vegetarian authorities” in society that poison the minds, especially of young people, and gave as an example… MEP Sylwia Spurek.
Moreover – in his opinion – the promotion of a “healthy” lifestyle observed today comes down to the promotion mainly of vegetarianism and products that are intended to replace meat, even though they are still called meat: meatless bacon, Krakow vege, meatless ribs…
– The question is, what is this meat replaced with? Protein from legumes, mainly soy. What does the indiscriminate use of legume proteins lead to? Phytoestrogenemia, which may lead to underdevelopment and damage to the nervous, hormonal and reproductive systems, spontaneous loss of male fetuses, gynecomastia in children and adults, as well as impotence and loss of libido – was mentioned by Dr. Lisiak at a conference organized by the association of butchers and meat producers.
Why the strange press conference?
And now another question: who delivers these meatless ribs and soy sausages to the stores?
Isn’t it precisely the country’s butchers and meat producers, Polish producers? Ladies and Gentlemen – If these soy sausages are so unhealthy, as Dr. Lisiak, who invited you to the press conference, proves, why do you produce them? Why do you, as producers, call them so similar to meat?
Maybe you need to hit your own chest first and there will be no need to organize a conference “On the real nutritional value of meat products”…
The Association of Butchers and Meat Makers of the Republic of Poland is the oldest (operating since 1922) and the largest industry organization in Poland, with over 120 plants in Poland, mainly small and medium-sized family enterprises.
