Actions are being prepared to help solve the problem of blockades on the border between Poland and Ukraine, announced the participants of Polish-Ukrainian intergovernmental consultations held on Monday in Lviv.
We discussed many issues related to economic cooperation and trade. Of course, we also touched upon difficult topics related to the trade in agricultural goods, but this was done with extraordinary understanding on both sides. We also talked about possible solutions, which I hope we are very close to and will soon be able to present the results of these talks – said the chairman of the Polish delegation, Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Hetman.
He said that the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be held in Poland.
I have already sent such an invitation to the Ukrainian authorities, and this commission and this conversation were excellent preparation for intergovernmental consultations between Poland and Ukraine, which will be held on March 28 in Warsaw, emphasized Hetman.
In Lviv, the minister expressed gratitude and respect for the Ukrainian nation for its fight against the Russian aggressor.
Poland stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian nation, he emphasized.
Wereszczuk: Poles and Ukrainians can reach an agreement
Iryna Vereshchuk, the deputy prime minister and minister for the reintegration of temporarily occupied territories, who heads the Ukrainian delegation, said that Monday’s committee meeting was an example of the ability of Poles and Ukrainians to reach an agreement.
Our committee is an example of the fact that we can and can talk and we do it successfully for our countries, for our states and for our nations. Our committee is an example of our ability to work effectively, agree and discuss difficult issues, she said in a statement to the press.
Wereszczuk thanked the Polish nation for supporting Ukrainians from the first days of the Russian invasion of her country.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Polish nation for everything you do for us and what you will do in the future. We will win together, she assured.

More talks in a week
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski announced that the talks in Lviv concerned, among others, agricultural markets.
In a week, the Ukrainian delegation will come to Poland again. We will talk about individual markets. A joint meeting of both governments will be held at the end of March. We want to introduce certain regulations that will limit the inflow of excess Ukrainian goods (to Poland), but also provide a chance for farmers to stop protesting and for the border crossings to be cleared, he explained.
The Polish-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation was established under the Polish-Ukrainian Economic Cooperation Agreement of 2005. Eight meetings have been held so far.
The commission formally operates seven working groups (on cooperation in agriculture, tourism, the fuel and energy sector, transport, geospatial information, space, trade and investment) and one subcommittee (on defense industry). During a meeting with the media in Lviv, Minister Hetman and Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Wereszczk announced that they had decided to intensify the work of the commission.
