
On March 5 this year, a forester from the Zaporowo Forest District alerted the local Forest Guard that garbage was burning in the forest. Forest guards from the Zaporowo Forest District immediately went to the indicated place. They had to extinguish the burning plastics and then took steps to identify the perpetrators. The very next day, evidence led to a local scrap yard.
- Last year alone, over 6.5 thousand cubic meters were collected in the area of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Olsztyn, for which PLN 2.57 million was spent.
- More than 80% of garbage in forests is primarily utility waste, such as product packaging, but we increasingly find plastic elements after dismantling cars. And this is a serious problem because the disposal of such elements is simply expensive.

A wild car waste incinerator was set up in the forest by the daughter of the owner of a scrap metal shop. Both she and the company’s employees will be brought to court for this.
– It turned out that the purchase owner’s daughter and her employees took the plastic elements to the forest and set fire to them after dismantling the car – said Ireneusz Płoski, commander of the Forest Guard station of the Zaporowo Forest District. – We need to check whether they are responsible for other similar acts in our area. For the offenses committed, a request for punishment will certainly be submitted to the nearest court, added Płoski.
