
According to the latest GIW report, nearly 40 new ASF outbreaks in wild boars were confirmed in Poland over the past week. Most outbreaks occurred in the north and west of the country.
This time, ASF outbreaks appeared in seven voivodeships. In total, in 38 outbreaks, traces of ASF were confirmed in the tissues of 58 animals. 28 outbreaks concerned dead wild boars, 9 shot wild boars, and one wild boar killed as a result of a traffic accident.
Where did ASF in wild boars occur?
Over the past week, ASF outbreaks in wild boars were confirmed in the following locations:
Lower Silesia:
- Głogów district (Głogów commune)
- Środa County (Miękinia commune)
- Wrocław district (Mietków commune)
Lubuskie:
- Międzyrzecz poviat (Bledzew commune)
Masovian district:
- Piaseczno district (Góra Kalwaria commune)
- Radom County (Wierzbica Commune)
Pomeranian Voivodeship:
- Kwidzyn poviat (Kwidzyn commune)
- Sztumski district (Sztumski commune)

Holy Cross province:
- Opatów district (Ożarów and Tarłów communes)
Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship:
- Braniewo district (Lelkowo commune)
- Elbląg poviat (Markusy and Rychliki communes)
Greater Poland Voivodeship:
- Poznań poviat (Murowana Goślina commune)
West Pomeranian voivodeship:
- Gryfino district (Stare Czarnowo commune)
- Police County (Dobra, Kołbaskowo and Police communes)
- city of Szczecin
ASF in 2024
Since the beginning of the year, 354 ASF outbreaks in wild boars have been confirmed in Poland. Most of them appeared in the west of the country, especially in the Lower Silesian and West Pomeranian Voivodeships. This year, however, there were no ASF outbreaks in pig herds.
Last year, there were 2,685 ASF outbreaks in wild boars and 30 ASF outbreaks in pig herds.
