Despite some uncertainty, today’s session of the VEZG stock exchange ended with maintaining the current recommended purchase price of fattening pigs.
This fact was not necessarily obvious – after all, yesterday’s auction on a small trading floor brought a slight price reduction. Compared to Friday’s auction, it dropped by 2 euro cents and amounted to EUR 2.10 per kilogram.
However, this did not affect today’s VEZG stock exchange quotation. Here, for the third time in a row, the rate was set at EUR 2.00 per kilogram of fattened pig with a meat content of 57%. (equivalent to our E class). This rate is valid from January 17.
Converted into the national currency (according to the euro exchange rate today: 1 EUR = 4.33 PLN), the German base rate is PLN 8.66 per kilogram, compared to PLN 8.75 per kilogram last week. The difference is due to the variable euro exchange rate.
Prices of fattening pigs in Poland
Prices on the domestic market are much lower than those in Germany. At the beginning of the week, domestic processors paid an average of PLN 8.30 net per kilogram for a fattened pig in class E, while a live weight fattened pig was valued at approximately PLN 6.50 net per kilogram.
