Protesting Polish farmers should not be accused of succumbing to Russian influence, said the Polish ambassador to Lithuania, Konstanty Radziwiłł, on Thursday. He added that Polish farmers have reasons to be dissatisfied.
The diplomat noted that farmers are protesting not only in Poland, but also in other countries, including France, Germany and Spain – writes the BNS agency.
– I think it would be a very big mistake and it would be very inappropriate to say that farmers are protesting because they are encouraged to do so by Russia – Radziwiłł said.
This is not the case. Firstly, farmers have reasons (to protest), and secondly, they have the right to do so, he emphasized.
The Polish ambassador said that most of the issues raised by farmers are addressed directly to EU bodies and are justified.
On Wednesday, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that the blockade of the road on the Polish-Lithuanian border planned for Friday by Polish farmers resembles “some type of hybrid operations.”
According to the minister, “the actions planned in the Suwałki Isthmus no longer resemble protests, but actions aimed at the national security of Poland and Lithuania.”
