According to Poles, farmers should focus more on improving the environment
Farmer’s editorial team, through the Ariadna research panel, asked Poles: should agriculture in Poland focus more on improving soil, nature and biodiversity? The responses of the surveyed people show a significant social expectation that agriculture will take even more pro-environmental activities – although with a hint of uncertainty.
The majority, over 60 percent. respondents believe that Polish agriculture should focus more on improving the condition of the soil, biodiversity and nature. Only 11% are of the opposite opinion. subjects. At the same time, as many as 27 percent people have no opinion on this.
These are interesting results, especially from the perspective of the weeks-long dispute over the shape of the European Union’s environmental and climate policy and the resulting restrictions on agriculture.

Social consensus on the tasks of agriculture?
The research results do not show that any group of respondents is particularly more convinced than others that farmers should care more about the environment. The opinions of groups of people from different places of residence or different incomes do not differ drastically, although a few results are noteworthy.
According to the study, the opinion that Polish agriculture should focus more on improving soil, nature and biodiversity is expressed to a similar extent by both women (63%) and men (62%).
What may seem surprising is that it is not the youngest respondents who are most likely to express the belief that agriculture should take more care of nature. In the 18-24 age group, 58% agreed with this statement. respondents, while among people aged 55+ it was as much as 71%. subjects.

It is also interesting that the beliefs of residents of rural areas and larger cities do not differ significantly in this respect. For example: 63 percent rural residents and 60 percent city inhabitants >500 thousand inhabitants believe that agriculture in Poland should focus more on improving the condition of the environment.
The belief that agriculture should take more care of nature is expressed more by married people (66 percent of respondents) than singles (58 percent) or people in informal relationships (57 percent). The situation is similar in the case of respondents who have children. A larger group of parents (65%) than those without children (57%) agree with the need for greater agricultural care for the environment.
Residents of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship are the most convinced of the need for agriculture to focus more on the protection of soil, nature and biodiversity, which is expressed by as many as 84 percent. respondents from this voivodeship. Most people who disagree with this statement live in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. 18 percent respondents from Małopolska gave the answers “definitely not” and “rather not”.

The survey was conducted between March 15 and 17 this year. for the Farmer editorial office by the Ariadna Research Panel on a nationwide sample of 1,104 people using the CAWI method.
