Polish pig breeders constantly strive to develop their farms. They increasingly pay attention to the welfare of farm animals, which contributes to improving the quality of pork production.
From this year, pig producers who meet the requirements of the QAFP system can apply for subsidies of up to PLN 90 for each fattened pig, without limits.
How can I apply for subsidies?
To obtain subsidies, the conditions specified in the “Animal Welfare Ecoscheme” intervention must be met, which assumes proper maintenance of animals in accordance with the requirements of the QAFP system. This process includes several key steps:
1. Familiarize yourself with the requirements:
The requirements are included in industry brochures available on the QAFP website. These documents describe in detail the standards that must be met at each stage of production.
2. Complete the application form:
Must be downloaded from the website www.qafp.pl and complete the application form, which requires detailed information about the type and volume of production, and then the completed document must be sent to the QAFP System Administrator, in accordance with the instructions provided on the website (online or by mail).
3. Certification:
At the next stage, each farmer is contacted by the Certification Body, which carries out the inspection process and issues a QAFP certificate, which confirms that the production meets all required quality standards.
4. Signing the contract with the System Administrator:
Formalization of participation in the QAFP system by signing an agreement with the System Administrator
5. Submitting an application on the website of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture
As an official participant, the producer can apply for subsidies under the Animal Welfare Ecoscheme.
“The QAFP Quality Guaranteed System provides very specific benefits not only for consumers who, when buying meat products or meat with this mark, are guaranteed the highest quality, but also additional money for breeders and producers of pigs and poultry. What else can you call, for example, a subsidy for each fattened pig, I will mark each one in the QAFP system, worth up to PLN 90? QAFP is simply profitable.” – President of UPEMI Wiesław Różański
QAFP – up to PLN 90 for each fattened pig, without limits
A producer who meets the requirements of the “Animal Welfare Ecoscheme” can receive up to PLN 90 in subsidies for each fattened pig, with no quantitative limits.
To qualify for these subsidies, a farmer must meet a number of criteria, including:
- Increasing the living space by at least 20%, which has a significant impact on the living conditions of animals and their welfare.
- Having a plan to reduce antibiotic usewhich is an important element of caring for the health and condition of animals, and also affects the quality of livestock
- Origin of fattening pigs – fattened pigs eligible for the payment come from sows kept on farms implementing a sow welfare intervention or from sows kept at a herd headquarters located no more than 50 km (as the crow flies) from the herd headquarters.
Subsidies offered under the QAFP system constitute an important incentive for farmers to further improve pig production standards, which contributes to both improving the living conditions of animals and increasing farm efficiency.
