
54 liters and 1.5 kg of pesticides were seized by officers of the Lublin Customs and Tax Service in a Polish carrier’s truck entering from Ukraine.
Officers of the Customs Department in Dołhobyczów, Lublin Voivodeship, discovered contraband in a truck coming from Ukraine. They X-rayed the tractor-trailer and the trailer, and the scan results prompted them to conduct a detailed search of the vehicle.
The officers found undeclared goods in the driver’s cabin, under the mattress and in external storage compartments. As it turned out, the plastic containers and bottles contained plant protection products. The officers seized a total of 54 liters and 1.5 kilograms of pesticides – says the Lublin National Audit Office in a press release.
The value of the disclosed funds on the Polish market is approximately PLN 36,000. zloty. According to KAS, the truck was driven by a Pole who admitted to trying to smuggle it. He explained that he was transporting the goods at the request of a friend. “He was unable to say where the disclosed funds came from or provide evidence of their purchase. Therefore, there is no certainty that these are original products,” we read in the information from the services.
The pesticides were confiscated and a criminal fiscal case was initiated against the man.
